Contrary to the belief, prime location isn’t everything! See how a brand like Polette finds Influencer Marketing a vital piece of their marketing!

Last week I got the pleasure of speaking with Salomé, a glasses connoisseur, who really opened my eyes to the way that eyewear brands market themselves in Paris! Salomé is the marketer at Polette’s Paris store and I wanted her insight since I’ve noticed that Paris has A TON of glasses shops. As an American, I feel like there are a lot more people who wear glasses, and stylish ones at that! So as the curious Marketer that I am, I needed to know what type of marketing goes into a trendy eyewear brand like Polette.

Polette’s Paris store is strategically located a few minutes away from the Louvre, but surprisingly most of their customers know the brand already from social media. So they don’t just rely on prime location to get people in the door.

When it comes to their Marketing team, there’s one person for the 8 stores across Europe, but each store has its own Marketer. The Paris store has a lot of social media responsibility since they work with Influencers, press, event marketing, and more! They also benefit a lot from influencer marketing. “Influencers come in to create content and then we see a lot of people wanting to buy the glasses they saw on their favorite Influencer. It’s a very powerful marketing tool for us” says Salomé.

Salomé believes that Marketers need to know and love the brand, they need to know who the customers are, what they like, how they interact with the brand. The marketer isn’t just an extension of the company, but a vital part of the business.

She goes on to say “Polette is different because they treat their staff as a family! We have an annual competition between all of the employees to design a new pair of glasses. I also fell in love with them because of their values, they really want to make a difference in the world”.

Their previous collection called “Orgasmic” highlighted the pleasures of women! As seen in the shades that both Salomé and myself are wearing. “The Venus is inspired by Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. L’Origine is taking cuesfrom Courbet’s L’Origine du monde and Elle pays homage to sculptureHon/Elle by Niki de Saint Phalle.”
